Visual Inclusion

In the process of developing „Vielfalt entscheidet – Diversity in Leadership“ we learnt about a great example of visual inclusion, which might inspire you in your future work: The logo of the Berlin Commissioner for Integration and Migration. This image appears in the offices of organizations receiving state funding for integration efforts and on brochures in the waiting rooms of district city halls.

Many will recognize the clever insertion of non-Latin characters into the spelling of “Berlin”, signifying the polyglot place so diverse people call home.

In order to mainstream the notion of an inclusive city we would love to see the use of this image extended beyond the integration administration towards the normal, average public campaigning efforts of the city.
